I started bowfishing with a recurve. It was a recurve adapted to bowfishing. This Water Moc is a purpose-built-for-bowfishing bow! I never liked getting my pretty wood on my recurve wet and have seen the effects on bows that did suffer such elemental abuse. The machined magnesium riser is light and even touts a tip-tightening/removing wrench. This is a takedown bow that will take up no space at all in a backpack or suitcase or hog up the entire backseat on a road trip. Point and shoot dependability of a recurve in the convenience of tool-less takedown purpose-built bowfishing bow. The takedown bolt housings serve as a line-puller and the Retriever is a time-proven bowfishing tool that I love! What a kit!!

My 8 year old son is very interested in getting into bowfishing with me. He’s not quite strong enough to use a compound yet and I was wondering if this might be a good option for him? Thanks in advance for any feedback

Hi Bobby, this bow has a 45 lb draw weight and might be a little much to pull back for a child. The draw weight on the Water Moc will be less when pulling back only 15″ compared to 28″. My advice would be to get a bow that has a large draw weight range such as 20-50 so that as he grows up he can keep increasing the weight. Generally when bowfishing you won’t exceed 50 lbs for the draw weight. There are many brands of bows out there that have this large draw weight range but I would get him set up with an AMS retriever. Our retrievers are safer to operate since you don’t have to remember to push a button before the shot. Also make sure a safety slide is used on the arrows to prevent injury. I hope this helps!

    Awesome bow

K.I.S.S. Bout as simple as it gets. Love this bow. Easy to put together and use. As a greenhorn myself into bowfishing this bow was well worth its money. Pro tip: I was use to a compound, so full draw was what I was pulling, this bow has a sweet spot for accuracy. Pull too far back and it pulls high. Get it just right deadly accurate and powerful.

    Amazing bow

    Hunter

I have been a very avid bowfisher for a long time now and have never used anything other than AMS products but this year I wanted to get back into the “traditional” way of shooting fish so when I saw the water moc I knew I had to have it, now when bowfishing I need a bow that is going to withstand some abuse and I was a little skeptical on how it was going to hold up but I have been nothing but impressed with this bow it is by far my favorite bow in a long time, this bow hits hard and is deadly accurate and fast when you find your sweet spot! Thank you AMS for this awesome bow I am in love with it and anyone reading this review that is a little skeptical DO NOT be you will be nothing short of impressed with it!!!!

    I absolutely love this Bow!
The fact i can take it down to fit behind the seat of my truck, or in my suitcase is AWESOME. I haven’t found one thing this bow can’t handle or i didn’t like. Its shoots straight, hits hard, and is super light in the hand.

  11. ChelleFishpaw

    Question

    ChelleFishpaw

If I can only pull 40 pounds of draw on my regular compound bow, is there anyway I could pull this back? Is it adjustable at all. I see it comes set at 45 pounds for a 28″ draw. That seems like a lot for bow fishing. If not what would be the best fishing bow for me, I have a regular 27″ draw shooting 40 pounds.

With a traditional bow the further you pull back the more weight you are pulling. Typically most people snap shoot in bowfishing meaning that they only pull the bow back part of the way. So if you only pull back 22 inches you’re pulling back significantly less weight.
