Fireworks, Bowfishing, and Independence. July has arrived and will make itself at home for 31 days. Bowfishing season is a marathon, not a sprint, and July can be compared to mile 13 of a 26-mile journey. Bowfishing opportunities are still plentiful, as many summertime fish species are exposing themselves, much to a bowfisher’s delight. We have had some crazy days on the water in the month of July. One specifically that sticks out is a day down in the target rich environment of Kentucky. The silver and bighead carp were so thick you could walk across them. The outing turned into a trophy mission. Wait 5 minutes or so for a BIG bighead to reveal itself, shoot, retrieve, take pictures, onto the next one. The only thing worse than the smell of the boat at the end of the day was our sunburn, but what a fantastic, memory rich day it was.
